Loss of a Teammate

Surviving Family Support Program

The Navy SEAL Foundation team was very saddened to learn of the loss of a warrior and teammate, SB1 Jonathan "Jonny" Becerra.

Taken far too soon, Jonny was a beloved husband, father, and friend whose determination and strength left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

He dedicated over a decade to Naval Special Warfare as a highly skilled SWCC Operator, instructor, and mentor, serving with distinction on multiple deployments to Iraq and PACOM. His dedication earned him the Navy Achievement Medal and Combat Action Ribbon. As an instructor at the SWCC Training Center, he played a vital role in shaping the next generation of Special Warfare Boat Operators.

Jonny’s drive extended beyond the military—he returned to school to earn a degree in Organizational Leadership and was honored as Sailor of the Year.

Outside of service, he found joy in playing basketball, spending time on the golf course, and most of all, being with his family. His legacy lives on through his two children—his four-year-old daughter Mya, whom he absolutely adored and who misses him dearly, and his two-month-old son Jordan, who tragically didn’t get enough time with his dad. His loving wife, heartbroken without her partner and best friend since she was 19, remains grateful for the time they shared.

Jonny’s unwavering commitment to excellence, leadership, and service left an undeniable impact on the NSW community and beyond. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten!

The NSF team has been working with the Command to support everyone's needs.
